Do you qualify?

Naturalisation is not an entitlement, A decision can only be made to grant you citizenship if you can demonstrate that you satisfy certain legal requirements and the Home Secretary thinks fit to naturalise you provided that you have attained 'Settled Status' or ILR.

The requirements for naturalisation as a British citizen differ depending on whether or not you are applying on the basis of marriage or civil partnership with a British citizen.

eLIGIBILITY

To apply for Naturalisation you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be over 18
  • Be a person of "good character"
  • Currently living in the UK
  • Meet the English Language requirements
  • Pass the Life in the UK test

Spouses and civil partners of British citizens have various other requirements to be met.
